CCEDC Business of the Year Awards
Catalytic Combustion of Bloomer has won the 2010 Overall Chippewa County Business of the Year. The award was presented at Chippewa County Economic Development Corporations (CCEDC) Annual Meeting, which was held on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the 29 Pines Hotel and Conference Center in Eau Claire.
Catalytic Combustion has been in business for 60 years and specializes in air correction and emission control, industrial process engineering, electrical engineering and controls, industrial services and catalyst products. Catalytic Combustion employs approximately 50 people in the Bloomer area.
Awards were also presented to the four quadrant winners in the county. Catalytic Combustion received the Quadrant 1 award as well as the overall business of the year award. Mule-Hide Manufacturing in Cornell was the winner for Quadrant 2. Mule-Hide Manufacturing has a long history of producing top-quality roofing products and is well known for giving back to the community in the Cornell area. The Quadrant 3 award winner was Spectrum Industries. Since 1968, Spectrum Industries has been providing high-quality furniture and product solutions to businesses and educational institutions. In 2009, over 1,000 different products were manufactured and shipped from the Chippewa Falls-based facility. Associated Milk Producers (AMPI) of Jim Falls won the award for Quadrant 4. AMPI has significant name recognition within the dairy industry, a dairy marketing cooperative, AMPI has owned the dairy plant in Jim Falls since 1986 and is one of the largest cheese producing plants in the area.
CCEDC also partnered with the Chippewa Valley Homebuilders Association in selecting a Chippewa County Builder of the Year. The winner was Chwalas Construction of Stanley. Haselwander Companies was also nominated. An Entrepreneur of the Year Award was presented to Katia Hauser of Down Syndrome Footprint located in Chippewa Falls. CCEDC also added a new award this year, The George McDowell Economic Development Leadership Award; this award was given to an individual who has given above and beyond in the area of economic development in Chippewa County. The award recipient was the late George McDowell and was given to Teresa McDowell and the Family of the late George McDowell.
CCEDC hosted over 225 business leaders, investors and elected officials during the 15th annual meeting.
