MADISON—Governor Scott Walker today announced that 18 Wisconsin communities have been awarded $8.8 million from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program at the Wisconsin Department of Commerce (Commerce) to rehabilitate and expand the supply of safe and sanitary housing for low-to-moderate income households.
“Assistance programs like this one help increase affordable housing options and improve community vitality,” Governor Walker said. “I am pleased that we can provide quality housing across the state, and I commend these communities on their hard work to ensure that Wisconsin continues to be a great place to live.”
The following Chippewa County community has received a CDBG award:
- City of Cornell, Chippewa County, $230,000
The CDBG program administered by Commerce’s Division of Housing and Community Development awards grants to general purpose units of local government for housing programs.
