On February 10, 2011 the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) was the recipient of the WEDA Economic Development Organization Award for 2011. The award was given by the Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA) and was presented to CCEDC at the 2011 Biennial Economic Development Awards ceremony during the 2011 Governor’s Conference on Economic Development held in Madison. Charlie Walker, President/CEO of CCEDC accepted the award on behalf of CCEDC.
The award recognized CCEDC for outstanding achievements by an economic development organization. WEDA cited CCEDC’s business retention program, business recruitment efforts, entrepreneurial development program, the CCEDC Business of the Year award program, participation in the development and implementation of the Economic Advantage Geo Locator Interface (Eagl-i) site selection and market analysis tool, as well as CCEDC’s partnership with the Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) on implementing the Critical Core Manufacturing Skills (CCMS) program as a bias to give the CCEDC the honor.
In 1985, WEDA established the Biennial Awards program with the purpose of recognizing exceptional contributions to the economic vitality of Wisconsin through the use of creativity, leadership, effort, investment or other attributes which further broad-based economic development goals and objectives within the State of Wisconsin.
“CCEDC is humbled, appreciative and excited to receive this award and this award would not have been possible without the outstanding support of CCEDC’s private sector investor’s, our economic development allies and Chippewa County,” stated Charlie Walker, President/CEO of CCEDC. “This award recognizes the accomplishments of CCEDC as we strive daily to help the private sector create jobs and continue to make Chippewa County a great place to raise a family and a business.“
