Invitation to the 4thannual Wisconsin Science & Technology Symposium (WSTS)  | July 28-29 | UW Whitewater

“Today’s Research for Tomorrow’s Jobs”

Jointly organized by WiSys Technology Foundation and UW-Whitewater, WSTS 2011 will feature cutting-edge technologies

that can grow Wisconsin’s economy.

·         Learn about technology development partnerships among UW campuses, business and clinical organizations (Aurora Health Care, BayCare Clinic and Marshfield Clinic) and hear from UW campus technology spin-off companies.

·         Experience the scientific poster session with faculty and student projects and sponsor exhibits during the 1 hour afternoon refreshment break.

·         Participate in the entrepreneurship workshop, where we will launch a new online tool developed by WiSys and UW-Whitewater for students and faculty.

·         WSTS 2011 topics will include:  biofuel production,nanotechnology applications, fuel cell development, pharmaceuticals, digital tools, medical devices, and more.  Scheduled speakers include Wisconsin Department of Commerce Secretary Paul Jadin, Wisconsin Workforce Development Secretary Scott Baumbach, and company representatives, clinicians and researchers from throughout the state.  Visit www.wisys.org/events for a continually updated speaker list.

·         Enjoy a Thursday night networking BBQ at the new Whitewater Innovation Center. The center was designed to help faculty, staff and students commercialize their business ideas. Come and find out how you can interface with this new economic driver for the region.

·         Previous symposiums conducted at UW-Stout, UW-La Crosse and UW-Green Bay each attracted more than 150 participants from universities, medical institutions and private industry.

·         Students are encouraged to attend, and UW System-sponsored student scholarships are available.

·         $50 for the two-day event.  Optional dinner and reception Thursday evening at the new Whitewater Innovation Center & Park ($12).

·         Student scholarships are available! These scholarships include housing at UW-Whitewater, Thursday’s dinner and reception, and registration for all sessions of the symposium.
