Chippewa County Business Leaders and elected officials gathered at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport (CVRA) to attend the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) Brown Bag Leadership Luncheon on August 9, 2011.
The topic bringing the 22+ attendees was the proposed AT&T and T-Mobile merger and the effects of it with regards to Northern Wisconsin and Chippewa County in particular.
CCEDC and attendees were joined by Scott T. VanderSanden, President of AT & T Wisconsin division, Jim Jermaine, AT & T’s Regional Vice President of External Affairs and Kent Disch, Director of AT & T Wisconsin External Affairs. During the presentation VanderSanden reviewed how the AT & T / T-Mobile merger would benefit Wisconsin businesses as well as creating significant consumer benefits such as an expanded 4G LTE to over 97% of U.S. population; improved voice and data service; an additional $8 billion of private infrastructure investment in Wisconsin; investment and better mobile broadband access in rural communities; access for 34 million T-Mobile customers to nationwide robust 4G LTE and additional job creation to Wisconsin especially in rural communities. Disch completed the presentation by reviewing a map of the current 4G coverage AT & T offers to Wisconsin’s rural communities and a map of the extended coverage area if the merger takes place. Following the event Charity Speich, CVRA Administrator provided tours of the updated terminal and addition recently completed.
CCEDC holds a Brown Bag Networking Leadership Lunch once a month to provide Chippewa County business leaders the opportunity to get together for networking and to share ideas, products and services with other Chippewa County businesses.
