2nd Annual Central Wisconsin Social Media Conference
Online social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ have created fundamental shifts in the way businesses now connect with their customers and other businesses. The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Continuing Education/Business Outreach has partnered with area Chambers of Commerce, businesses, and other higher education institutions to bring the second annual Central Wisconsin Social Media Conference back to Wausau on October 20, 2011. Business people in Central Wisconsin will get an opportunity to learn from active social media practitioners about using social media as a vital and integral part of their business marketing and branding efforts.
The conference will begin with a session on “Measuring the Effectiveness of Social Media,” presented by Bruch Barchus and Phil Van Houten of Clifton Gunderson LLP. They will provide insights on the use of analytics to help you understand if your social media efforts are paying off, and where to put your marketing dollars.
Four Workshop Tracks will round out the program: Legal Aspects will cover privacy issues, developing policy, and hiring and recruiting in the Facebook generation. The Marketing track will include workshops on integration of social media into a marketing strategy, E-marketing, Content Marketing, and Engagement Marketing. In the Branding session, you’ll learn about strategic approaches to branding, what’s next in brand marketing, and building collaboration and communicating your brand. The Utilization track will give detailed information on building a great LinkedIn profile, using Facebook in business applications, and how to leverage Twitter for business.
Wrapping up the conference will be a session on “The Next New Thing,” where presenters and guests will give updates on new technologies and products to help your business grow through social media.
A “Social Media Social Hour” at the Great Dane (2505 Sherman St., Wausau) will allow participants to network with fellow professionals, conference presenters and sponsors following the conference.
The conference will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Westwood Conference Center, 1800 Westwood Center Blvd., Wausau WI 54401. Registration check-in begins at 7:30 am with the General Session starting at 8:30am. The conference ends at 4:00pm and includes lunch.
Registration fees are $129 regular rate and $89 for students (must indicate educational institution).
