Jerry Becker of Eau Claire opened the Merry Maids franchise in June of 1995.  Jerry wanted to start a business and research showed that Merry Maids was ranked in the top five franchises overall and first in the industry. No other cleaning service in the Chippewa Valley offered a professional service of this kind. With over 900 offices in the United States and Canada, the home owners of the Chippewa Valley were ready to embrace this unique business.

Following franchise training, Jerry needed to find a suitable location to set up his business. He found available, affordable space at the Chippewa Valley Innovation Center. The staff at the CVIC was helpful and accommodating. The CVIC offers office space, use of a computer, copy and fax equipment, as well as meeting and lunchroom facilities. CVIC houses several start-up businesses so the network between business owners proved invaluable. Business owners often share ideas and discuss problems and solutions.
