Started in 1996 in the garage of Deb and Larry Butero, Precision Quality Systems and Quality Engineering Services began as a family-run business created to meet the outsourcing needs of Illinois Tool Works, Inc., which was moving out of certain hand assembly, lab services, and inspection.

Growing quickly Precision Quality Systems and Quality Engineering Systems, moved into one office space and then a second. To fill its needs, PQS-QES looked at industrial space to further expand its services. The Chippewa Valley Innovation Center's versatility, ample space, and extra amenities proved to be the solution.

Business Profile

Starting small, Precision Quality Systems and Quality Engineering Systems (PQS-QES) wanted to maintain a close-knit family atmosphere in the company, while seeking the opportunity for growth and having a reputation of putting out flawless materials.  Precision Quality Systems used its reputation to grow from hand assembly to operations that require the use of large machines and storage space.

Quality Engineering Systems specializes in dimensional inspection, part functional testing, calibration and documentation services for manufacturing companies. Quality Engineering Systems' growth has led to expansion into the highly selective automotive industry. The CVIC was able to facilitate expansion needs by allowing for growth into more space as the need arose.

After three years in the CVIC, PQS-QES moved into its own building. In 2000 PQS-QES experienced a crippling fire at its new location. After a major fire this typically cripples a small business, but the CVIC was there to help. Precision Quality Systems and Quality Engineering Systems moved into the CVIC within the week and was there for six months, saving the business that now employees 50 people from the Chippewa County area.

Company Goals

With over 100 people on the employee waiting list, plans for doubling the 7,000 square foot facility, and a continuous expansion of its market, Precision Quality Systems and Quality Engineering Systems is a major success story for the CVIC and the Chippewa Valley.
