Careful planning and a vision led to the formation of the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC). Chippewa County created the Corporation to serve the entire county. The corporation was established in 1993 as a private, nonprofit 501(c)(6) by a committee consisting of members from Chippewa County Board and representatives from the cities and villages within the county.

The CCEDC Board of Directors consists of (up to) 15 members. Each municipality, which contributes financial support to the corporation, appoints one representative. Each municipality appointee is selected by their City Council or Village Board. The County Board Chairman selects four additional appointees after consulting with the Chippewa County Economic Development Committee. One of those four members must be a member of the Chippewa County Economic Development Committee. The board also consists of four members of the private sector from each of the four quadrants of the county. These appointments are all made prior to the CCEDC's annual meeting, and board members serve three-year terms. The communities that are currently represented on the board are Bloomer, Boyd, Cadott, Chippewa Falls, Cornell, New Auburn and Stanley.

The purpose of the organization was the county's way of providing cohesive partnerships for all the communities and professional staff to assist the county and the communities they serve with their growth and marketing initiatives. The CCEDC works closely with the county and attends various meetings including the Chippewa County Economic Development Committee, the Comprehensive Plan Workgroup, the County Land Development Committee and the Administrative Committee. The CCEDC appreciates the support it receives from the county, both its financial contribution and that it is a support mechanism for all the activity provided to the Chippewa area.
