To show support for a brand new business in downtown Chippewa Falls Chippewa County Economic Development Corp (CCEDC) attended Club Machine Tool Camp (MTC)’s open house on December 18, 2015. Club MTC presented tours of their maker space, live demos of machines, and an opportunity to learn more about the tools and technology they offer. A well designed layout for the different workstations creates an organized atmosphere and allows individuals to focus on their own project.
This is the first maker space in the area and aims to allow local inventors, crafters, entrepreneurs, and those who enjoy creating an opportunity to bring their projects to fruition. Members of Club MTC receive access to expensive equipment and machines, project assistance, creative consulting, discounts on their informative classes, storage, WiFi, and more. The available machines include a CNC router, a CNC mill, a laser engraver, a large laser cutter, 3D printers, a large format printer, a MIG welder, a press brake, design software, and much more. Machine reservations are available from 1 to 4 hours to ensure you have access to specific machines while you are at the club. Memberships are sold on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis, however one day passes are also available for those looking to try out the club or finish a small project.
Owner, Scott Kauphusman was CCEDC’s entrepreneur of the year for 2015 and has brought a very new and unique concept to the Chippewa Valley with Club MTC maker space. The low cost access to expensive machines and an open work space could provide local residents the opportunity to turn a fun hobby into a budding small business without the huge upfront costs.
Club MTC is located at 128 W River St in Chippewa Falls, WI, for more information visit www.clubmtc.net or call 715-438-2040.
