CCEDC hosted the first of three in a series of “Lunch & Learns” dealing with Attracting and Retaining Employees.  These frequent “Lunch & Learns” are designed to help small and medium enterprises focus on innovation-based growth strategies. The significance of cutting edge employee retention programs cannot be taken for granted in dealing with company growth issues.

In a recent study by The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest association of human resource management professionals-notes that almost 60% of HR professionals think that rewarding and retaining employees will be their biggest challenge in the near future.

Several key points stressed at the Lunch & Learn were:  1. It’s not always more money that keeps outstanding employees around. Offer clear opportunities for advancement and promote from within.  2. Recognition can go a long way towards job satisfaction. Show and tell your best employees that they are the BEST! 3. Be flexible with scheduling and time off.Work-life balance is a top priority for many employees.
