Secretary Ben Brancel of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection (DATCP) joined Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) and Rooney Farms to communicate to over 30 local agriculture and business leaders the roles and responsibilities of the DATCP. Much of the discussion was on the topic of milk prices, the agricultural product market, import and export of products, as well as oversight of restaurant and food service operations. Brancel explained that the DATCP is working to streamline and improve the procedures businesses work under, and thanked everyone for their role in Wisconsin’s business community. Attendees were also able to discuss topics from wine production, export and taxation, transportation issues, as well as the grain and milk markets, and how the needs of family farms, as well as commercial farming need to be considered with the Secretary during the event.
The primary mission of the CCEDC is to be a catalyst for economic development in Chippewa County and foster a strong economic environment which supports businesses and nurtures growth and new investment in the region. For that reason we made this opportunity available for business owners/leaders to attend.
The event was held on April 14th, and was sponsored by Rooney Farms - a large scale grain farming operation out of Chippewa Falls WI (Tilden). Following the event attendees were able to tour the facility and see the state of the art equipment Rooney utilizes in their daily operations.
