The CCEDC had the opportunity to host Ms. Bridget Lee, Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for a Familiarization Tour (FAM) of Chippewa County on September 21 & 22, 2017 This FAM tour provided Chippewa Valley cheese makers, wineries, breweries and distilleries, along with specialty product producers the opportunity to host tours of their business, attend a meet & greet reception, and an informational dinner presentation to learn more about exporting opportunities within the Asian/Hong Kong market.
During the FAM tour the CCEDC also invited trade associations, EDO’s, and elected officials to attend a meet and greet information breakfast with the HKTDC to provide them resources on growing exports via Hong Kong and HKTDC, to learn more about how Hong Kong expedites access into the Chinese mainland and Asia markets, as well as how the Asian markets are lucrative for specialty product exporting.
CCEDC took this opportunity to make Chippewa Valley companies aware of the advantages of strategically accessing the Chinese and Asian markets for exporting their products. Hong Kong is a mature and sophisticated market with a growing demand for gourmet foods, beverages, and specialty products. Hong Kong is the 4th largest market for U.S. consumer-oriented food products with a record level of US $3.4 billion exported in 2015, an increase of 12% over 2014. Top U.S. exports of processed food products.
